Split Pea Soup

2 cups cooked cubed ham
1 1/2 cups dry split peas
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped carrots
2 T snipped fresh parsley
1/2 tsp. dried thyme leaves
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. salt
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups water

Mix all ingredients in crock pot and cook on low 10-12 hours, or on high 4-5 hours.  Just before serving, mash the soup a couple of times with a potato masher for a thicker consistency.
